Child Care Programs

The goal of our programs is to promote the physical, mental, social, and emotional development of each child by providing a high-quality child care program. Programs include a nutritious snack every day, outside play or indoor physical activity, crafts, special projects, and quiet times. We view the home, school, community, and child care settings as complementary and interrelated domains that affect children’s growth and development.
A list of all current child care and summer day camp programs is maintained in WebTrac, our online program registration service.  To learn more about current offerings or for a certain type of activity, click the link below.

Looking Ahead to 2020-21 School Year

As we head into preparations for school year 2020-21, we will plan to post updates here as to any changes and/or additions that come along, especially as it concerns the registration process:

Update 1/7/2020:    Club Teen Program Minimum Headcount Requirement

For many years, we have been running our Club Teen program despite not meeting our minimum headcount of 20 students.  On a daily basis we vary from 5 to 10 students in attendance, with at least two staff members in attendance on most days.

Looking ahead to next school year, we will be sticking to our minimum headcount of 20 in order to run this program. When registration opens in March, those registering for Club Teen with not be required to pay a registration fee. Your child’s name will go on the list and when we meet the minimum headcount you will be contacted to complete registration at that time. If the program does not run, we will send notification to those on the list no later than July 1.

Update 1/13/2020:    Registration Process for Child Care 2020-21 -- Current Child Care Enrollees

Registration for the 2020-21 child care program begins Monday, March 23 for current users, and remains open until Friday, March 27. This program does require an in-person registration at Scarborough Town Hall, which will be open from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm every day that week. Due to the craziness of registration, we again will be streamlining the process to make it quicker and easier for existing child care users:

  • All current child care users needing services again MUST call the Community Services Office at 207-730-4150 to update their household information. We will be available to take your calls Monday through Friday between 8:00 am and 4:00 pm. This update phone call needs to be placed between March 2 and March 20. This call should not take any more than 10 minutes to complete.
  • Please be sure to have the following information ready: Parent(s) address(es), phone numbers, email address(es), child/ren’s dates of birth and medical information, and emergency contacts beyond parents. We will also need to input your chosen credit or debit card for billing so please have that available. New members can be added to your account during this update process, as well.
  • Once we have updated all information over the phone, we will make a note of the update so that when you arrive to register for the program in person at Town Hall, it will be a relatively quick process.
  • Beginning Monday, March 23, households who have completed the phone update process will enter Scarborough Town Hall and proceed directly back to Council Chambers. Registration will be taken on a first-come, first-served basis. All current families will have until Friday, March 27 to register. Those who register after March 27 will be put on a wait list.
  • We will register your child/ren for your chosen days, have you complete one waiver sheet per child, and take your registration payment, which is $125 per child for the 2020-21 school year. This payment MUST be paid by cash or check. If you choose to pay the registration fee by card, you will be required to register in the Community Services Office on the third floor.
    • Siblings new to the program may be registered at this time, as well, and will be put on a wait list. Once all current participants who register by Friday, March 27, are put in our system, siblings will then be added.

Update 1/21/2020:   Registration Process for Child Care 2020-21 -- New to Child Care Program/Unenrolled

Going into 2020-21 school year, we will be accepting registration first for those families who are presently enrolled in the program. They are given March 23-27 to complete that registration. Once we have finished the first round of registration on March 27, we will temporarily close registration, giving us time to input all enrollees into tracking and to evaluate what spaces or days are left at each school site. It will only be then that we open registration to unenrolled households.

If your child is currently not enrolled in the child care 2019-20 program, or is new to Scarborough Schools, please take the following steps:

    • We will begin an online waitlist on March 30 for all unenrolled families. Prior to March 30, please make sure you have a registration account in our system. Call us at 207-730-4150 so we can set up an account for you, update an existing account, or give you your login information. Since registration will be school specific, we will want to make sure all of your child/ren’s information is in the system correctly.
    •  On March 30, beginning at 8:00 am, the online waitlist enrollment will open. This waitlist enrollment will essentially assign you a spot in line at your child’s school site so that we may contact you should space become available. Alternatively, you may call our office on or after 8:00 am on March 30 to have us add your name(s) to the waitlist.

How to Register for Online Waitlist

    o    Open up

o    Login in with your user name and password.

    o    Click Search

    o    Select Activity Search

o    Type Child into the keyword search and click Search.

o    All waitlists will appear below and will be specific to the school site your child will be attending.

o    Select your chosen school site by clicking the + button on the left hand side. PLEASE NOTE: You will need to enable pop-ups to continue registration.

    o    Click Proceed to Checkout.

    • We will begin calling waitlist enrollees one by one on April 6, moving down the list in numerical order. If we contact you and you are interested in the days we have to offer, we will hold the days for you so that you may come in and officially register. Deadlines for official registration will be given during that phone call and if registration is not completed within that time, we will release those spots to the next person on the waitlist.
