Mailbox & Post Replacement

posted Jan 7, 2015, 10:46 AM by Unknown user
Sometimes mailboxes get hit during winter plowing operations and we do realize that it can be an inconvenience.  Our
drivers make every effort to be careful but at times it is unavoidable.  In cases where a mailbox has been hit it is our practice to provide a replacement mailbox, and a post if necessary.  The homeowner, not Public Works, is responsible for installation of the new box and/or post.  We do not replace any ornate, special box or post.  The box will be replaced with a standard metal box in a choice of white or black and a standard wooden post.  The town will never reimburse for replacement.  Requests for replacements will no longer be accepted after May 1st (for previous winter damages).
