Mailbox & Post Replacement Policy

posted Dec 29, 2015, 5:50 AM by Unknown user
Public Works realizes that it can be an inconvenience when mailboxes get hit during winter plowing operations.  Our drivers make every effort to be careful but at times it is unavoidable.  In cases where a mailbox has been hit it is our practice to provide a replacement mailbox, and a post if needed.  The homeowner, not Public Works, is responsible for installation of the new box and/or post.  We do not replace any ornate, special box or post.  The box will be replaced with a standard metal box in a choice of white or black and a standard wood post.  The town will never reimburse for replacement.  After May 1st requests for replacement mailboxes or posts will no longer be accepted.
