It is a celebration of the tens of thousands of men and women in North America who provide and maintain the infrastructure services collectively known as public works.  It calls attention to the importance of public works in community life.  The week seeks to recognize the professionals who serve the public good every day with quiet dedication.

The 2015 National Public Works Week Theme, "Community Begins Here" speaks to the essential nature of Public Works services in support of everyday quality of life.  There would be no community without the quality of life public works provides.  There would be no community to police and protect, no public to lead or represent.  Public works allows the world as we know it to be.
