2016 Oak Hill Intersection Pedestrian Improvements


Construction Period:  March 21st - May 1st   (15 Working Days)


General Overview:

Safety & pedestrian improvements, updates to traffic signals and lighting, and completion of missing sidewalk segments.  The improvements are a key piece of a larger effort to make the Oak Hill area a safer and more attractive environment for pedestrians.



IMPROVEMENTS:

Oak Hill Intersection
  *  Two (2)crosswalks will be added as well as new pedestrian signal heads, 
      push buttons, and sidewalk tip-down adjustments.

  *  Street lighting will be added to safely illuminate the intersection.

  *  Dynamic "no right turn" signs that light up when the crosswalk is in use.

Black Point Rd
  *  A new sidewalk along the Citgo Station property with a narrowing of their driveway to
     help address this high-crash location.

  *  A new segment of sidewalk from the Bellavita elderly housing facility to the Oaks Apartments.

Route One 
  *  New crosswalks & sidewalks at Hannaford Drive and Biddeford Savings Bank/Starbucks

Gorham Rd
  *  A new crosswalk at Hannaford Drive

  *  Preliminary design for a bicycle/pedestrian trail along Gorham Rd towards Maple Ave






Access to properties within the project area will be maintained during the construction period.  Delays
should be expected.  Alternate routes are advised
during daylight hours.
