Sustainability

The Sustainability Coordinator works under the direct supervision of the Assistant Town Manager, and collaborates with the Planning, Public Works, and Community Services Departments. In addition, the Sustainability Coordinator works closely with Town staff, departments, and particularly with committees focused on energy, solid waste, recycling and composting, coastal resiliency and resources.

Piping Plovers

The Piping Plover is an endangered marine bird protected by both State and Federal laws.

They are small sandy-colored shorebirds that nest on beaches. Some of the most successful breeding of these birds occurs in Scarborough.

If you would like to be a Volunteer Beach Monitor, please follow the link below! Being a volunteer monitor is a great way to get yourself and your family out on the beach. It also gives you the chance to see a unique and endangered animal.

For updated piping plover nesting location, please view the Piping Plover Nest Sites Map.
