Red Brook Watershed Work Progresses

posted Jan 25, 2016, 9:38 AM by Tody Justice
On Wednesday, January 20th Scarborough Public Works Department completed the first of many projects in
the Red Brook Watershed as part of an EPA grant awarded to the Town. The crew, with the help of Town Planning staff, MeDEP staff, and Cumberland County Soil & Water Conservation District removed a large abandoned culvert, which had been impeding flow and adversely impacting habitat along the brook. The team took care to minimize disturbance to the areas surrounding the work zone and the result was a free flowing Red Brook. More projects within the Red Brook watershed will be implemented over the next year as Town staff works towards completing the Watershed Management Plan. Please check back for updates on the work being done, or contact the Planning Department at (207)730-4040.
