Letters stating new property values by KRT Appraisal, the Town’s consultant, have been mailed to residential property owners and should be
received by August 7. KRT Appraisal has also made values available on their website,
http://www.krtappraisal.com/dist/scarborough.html. Letters include a number to call, 1-855-228-4033, to make an appointment with KRT staff if you wish to discuss your new value. Everyone who wishes to meet with KRT to discuss their property’s new assessment will be given time to do so. These appointments will be held at the Town Hall on the following days:

Tax commitment complete

The value of your property is one of the key variables in determining your tax bill, the other being the tax rate. The tax rate will not be finalized until the end of August, as there are a number of factors still in motion. However, based on the information we have now the tax rate will be decreasing between 12% and 14%. Your final tax bill is determined by multiplying your property’s value by the tax rate. While residential property values have increased, the decrease in the tax rate means that your property tax bill will not increase by the same percentage as your value.
