School Budget Validation Referendum Election - Tuesday, July 25th

Voting will take place in Town Council Chambers at the Scarborough Municipal Building located at 259 US Route One from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 25,



The Absentee Ballot [Sample ballot below] for the School Budget Validation Referendum Election is available in the Town Clerk’s Office during regular business hours. HOWEVER, any Absentee Ballot issued between Thursday, June 22nd through to Wednesday, July 5th cannot be return until the Town Council adopts the FY2018 Municipal/School Budget, which is scheduled for Wednesday, July 5th. Therefore, your ballot can not be returned until Thursday, July 6th. 


Voting in the presence of the Town Clerk without a reason will begin on Thursday, July 6th and end on Thursday, July 20th during regular business hours: 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, except for the first and third Wednesday, we are open until 6:30 p.m.


The voter may request an absentee ballot by completing the Application for an Absentee Ballot [see below] and mailing it to the Scarborough Town Clerk's Office at P.O. Box 360, Scarborough, ME 04070-0360 or the voter can contact the Town Clerk's Office at 207-730-4020 to make their request for an absentee ballot to be mailed to them.


As of Friday, July 21st and Monday, July 24th the voter must fill out a ‘Special Circumstance Application” and check the appropriate box that applies:

I will be absent from my municipality of residence unexpectedly during the entire time the polls are open on Election Day.

I have a physical disability.

      I am unable to leave my home or treatment facility due to an incapacity or illness;

      I am a resident of a coastal island ward or precinct and am unable to travel to the Polls.
