School Budget Validation Referendum Election - Tuesday, June 10th

 ABSENTEE BALLOTS: Starting on Friday, June 6th and on Monday, June 9th any Voter wishing to vote by absentee ballot must have on the of the following Special Circumstance in order vote by absentee ballot:

1. The voter will be absent from my municipality of residence unexpectedly during the  entire time the polls are open on election day; or,

2. The voter has a physical disability; or,

3. The voter is unable to leave their home or treatment facility due to an incapacity or  illness; or,

4.  The voter is a resident of a coastal island ward or precinct and am unable to travel to the Polls.

The Voter must complete a Special Circumstance Application before a ballot will be issued. The application must be signed by the voter.  An immediate family member cannot sign the Special Circumstances Application for the voter. The voter may also request an absentee ballot by completing the Application for an Absentee Ballot form and mailing it to the Scarborough Town Clerk's Office at P.O. Box 360, Scarborough, ME 04070-0360 or the voter can contact the Town Clerk's Office at 730-4020 to make their request for an absentee ballot to be mailed to them.

Voting will take place at the High School Gymnasium on Election Day, Tuesday, June 10, 2014, from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. As a reminder the main entrance to the High School is now located at the traffic light in front of the Municipal Building at 259 U.S. Route One.

If the referendum vote does not pass on Tuesday, June 10th, another budget meeting must be held at least 10 days after the Validation Referendum Election and another budget must be approved.  The revised budget will be submitted to the voters for validation at a second Validation Referendum Election. This process must be repeated until a budget is validated at a referendum election.
