The Town of Scarborough revised its Property Tax Assistance Program for this year, and you do not need to qualify

for the State of Maine Property Tax Fairness Credit to qualify for the Scarborough program.  To receive a refund from the Town of Scarborough’s property tax assistance program, your Federal Adjusted Gross Income must not exceed $50,000 and your property tax must exceed 5% of that income.  Additionally, the program requires applicants to be 62 or older and Scarborough residents for the previous 10 years.

Applicants must come into the Town Assessor’s office and bring their Federal income taxes for review.  If applicants do not file Federal taxes then they must bring their Earnings statement from Social Security and any other earnings received. The Assessor’s office will assist applicants by reviewing the qualifying information and in completing the application.  All applications must be turned in to the Assessor's office by October 15, 2016.

If we can assist you in any way please call 207-730-4063 or email at srusso@ci.scarborough.me.us
