Tuesday, June 14th, State Primary Election and School Budget Validation Referendum Election Information:

ABSENTEE BALLOTS WITH SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES:  The deadline to request an absentee ballot, including a ballot voted in the

presence of the clerks was Thursday, June 9, 2016 unless the Voter completes a Special Circumstance Application [see below] stating one of the four reasons:

·         An unexpected absence from the municipality during the entire time the polls are open on election day;

·         A physical disability,

·         An inability to travel to the polls because the voter is a resident of a coastal island ward or precinct; or

·         An incapacity or illness that has resulted in the voter being unable to leave home or a treatment facility.

This special circumstances application must be signed by the voter.  NOTE:  The deadline for returning absentee ballots has not changed.  You can return ballots until 8:00 p.m. on Election Day, June 14, 2016, at the High School.

If you are currently enrolled in a party, please fill out the State Special Circumstance Application for an Absentee Ballot [see attachment below] and if you are not enrolled in a party or in the Green Independent Party, please fill out the School  Special Circumstance Application for an Absentee Ballot [see attachment below] and mail it to the Scarborough Town Clerk's Office at P.O. Box 360, Scarborough, ME 04070-0360 or the voter can contact the Town Clerk's Office at 730-4020 to make their request for an absentee ballot to be mailed to them or go to http://www.maine.gov/sos/cec/elec/absent.htm and fill out the e-form request.

Scarborough has five Districts [29/28, 29/29, 30/27, 30/28 and 30/29]; if the voter is not sure of which Senate or House District they are in – please check the Street Listing Below. Both sample ballots for the Democrat Party and the Republican Party are listed together by District – see below. The Sample ballot for the School Budget Validation Referendum is also listed below.

Voting will take place at the High School Gymnasium on Election Day, Tuesday, June 14, 2016, from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. As a reminder the main entrance to the High School is now located at the traffic light in front of the Municipal Building at 259 U.S. Route One.
