FY2018 Budget Nears Completion

posted May 11, 2017, 1:19 PM by Kate Bolton
Town and School Leaders met for a budget workshop on Wednesday, May 10, 2017, at 7:00 p.m.  The purpose of the workshop was to update both Town Councilors and School Board members on the proposed changes that have been made to the FY2018 budget proposal over the past several weeks, since the initial public presentation and first readings.

The Finance Committees of both Town and School have spent many hours reviewing the details of the budget, individually and as a Joint Committee, asking questions and requesting refinements and reductions.  Town and School leaders have worked together to trim the original proposal, balancing the goal of a sustainable property tax increase with a commitment to providing the high-quality programs and services our community expects.

Attached are several documents that were shared and reviewed at the workshop:

o   A one-page summary – “What is the Bottom Line?”

o   Detail of changes to the Municipal budget since first reading

o   Detail of changes to the Education budget since first reading

o   Summary of the Town Council Finance Committee’s recommended budget adjustments

Please plan to join us on Wednesday, May 17, 2017, at 7:00 p.m. in Council Chambers for the Town Council’s second reading and vote on the revised budget.  We hope to see you there!
