Before & After Schools programs are times for children to learn and socialize in a safe space outside of school hours. This extended day gives parents more flexibility and an engaging setting for children.

 

Child Care Program Philosophy

The goal of our programs is to promote the physical, mental, social, and emotional development of each child by providing a high-quality child care program. Programs include a nutritious snack every day, outside play or indoor physical activity, crafts, special projects, and quiet times. We view the home, school, community, and child care settings as complementary and interrelated domains that affect children’s growth and development. Child Care Registration Procedures for 2023-24

Due to the popularity of the before-school and after-school care programs and the space limitations per site, our registration for next school year is broken up into two registration periods:

  1. Current Enrollees: Families who are currently enrolled in the 2022-23 program are able to register online beginning at 8:00 am on March 6. All current enrolled students have received instructions for that process.

  2. New to the Program: Families who are new to Scarborough or new to our program may enroll their child or children on the Child Care Waitlists beginning at 8:00 am on March 13 at 8:00 AM. Once the current enrollees have been situated on rosters, we will know what remains for space at each site. We will then work through the waitlist (first-in, first-served) to fill the remaining spaces at camp. We will retain the waitlist even after school begins in the event we have cancellations.

Child Care Begin Date (TBD)

We base our care start date on the approved Scarborough School 2023-24 calendar. The first day of care will coincide with the first day of school for ALL students.

 

No Child Care Coverage on Full-Day Storm Days

We will be unable to provide child care coverage on full-day storm days. We will, however, continue to provide extended care for child care participants on school days that are delayed or released early due to storms.

 

School Break Child Care Coverage

Scarborough Community Services does provide a limited amount of opening for child care coverage for Grades K-5 during school vacation breaks in December, February, and April. Registration for these are offered to those enrolled in our child care programs first and then released to the public if not filled. If any dates are open to the general public for registration, they will be listed below with a registration link:

 

Remaining 2023 Holidays

We do not provide child care on the following holidays:

  • Patriot's Day (4/17)

  • Memorial Day (5/29)
