Detectives Division

The Detective Bureau has several different functions within the department. The main objective of the Scarborough Police Detective Bureau is to investigate crimes that have occurred in Scarborough . These crimes range from criminal mischief (vandalism) to assisting the Maine State Police with murders that occur in Scarborough. The detectives are assigned reports that have been taken by the patrol officers. They then do the follow-up investigation which includes but is not limited to interviewing witnesses, victims, and possible suspects. They are trained to use several valuable tools to assist their investigation which include search warrants, evidence collection, interviewing techniques and surveillance equipment. The ultimate goal is the apprehension and prosecution of criminals as well as the recovery of stolen property.
