Gorham Road Pipeline Replacement

Gorham Road Pipeline Replacement

Pipeline Replacement Planned in Scarborough this Spring

Approximately 3,000 feet of steel pipe will be replaced along Gorham Road

HAMPTON, N.H., March 11, 2022  -- Unitil Corporation, (www.unitil.com), a provider of natural gas and electricity to customers in New England, will be replacing 3,000 feet of steel pipe along Gorham Road between the Nonesuch River near Ridgeway Road and Maple Avenue in Scarborough, Maine as part of a coordinated effort with the Scarborough Sanitary District and the Town of Scarborough.

This gas pipeline replacement work is being done prior to the replacement of sanitary force main to relocate existing utilities in advance of a planned Municipal Roadway Improvement Project along Gorham Road. The contractor is RH White Construction & Service Solutions. They will begin the natural gas pipeline work on March 28th and the work is expected to last three months.  During construction activities, speeds will be reduced within the work zones and heavy truck traffic will be detoured to Haigis Parkway and Payne Road.

There will be no interruption to the existing natural gas service.

“We’ve been working closely with town officials to minimize disruption where possible and will continue to do so, but we do recommend seeking alternative routes while construction is ongoing,” Unitil Media Relations Manager Alec O’Meara said. “Our plan is to work efficiently and to have our line out of the way in time for this important road improvement project to begin.”
