Why compost?

Removing kitchen scraps from the Town's waste stream reduces waste hauling and disposal costs. Our food waste is collected and turned into high quality compost, which returns valuable nutrients to the soil. 

What can be composted?

All Food

Fruit, vegetables, meat, seafood, shellfish, bones, rice, pasta, bread, beans, cheese, coffee grounds, eggshells, oils

Paper

Cardboard, napkins, paper towels, paper plates, paper cups, coffee filters, newspaper, tea bags

Plants

Floral trimmings, house plants

What should NOT be composted?

Baby wipes, diapers, cat litter, pet waste, medicine, Styrofoam, glass, yard waste, wood chips, saw dust, cleaning wipes, rubber bands, oil.
