FY25 Budget Proposes Public Works Vehicle Replacements
Scarborough Public Works Deputy Director Stephen Buckley explains the department need for a new electrical bucket truck. The Town is responsible for all traffic lights since 2017, when they were acquired from Central Maine Power. It has provided a significant cost savings to the town, but the 24-year old piece of equipment used to maintain the lights needs to be replaced.
The Public Works department follows a replacement schedule for its vehicles and equipment. Every year they replace a full size plow truck, one small pickup, and one specialized piece of equipment (this year it will be a mowing tractor for roadside mowing). This helps for predictable spending and phasing out older equipment before it becomes too costly.
These items are proposed in the FY2025 municipal budget.
